كنت دائمًا ما أشعر بالفضول لاستكشاف ما يرميه الناس بعيدًا، وفي نفس الوقت، يثير الحزن في نفسي رؤية هذه الأشياء المهملة.

ذات يوم سبت، أثناء جولة في المكب، لفت انتباهي كرسيان أنيقان من طراز قديم، متهالكان ولكن في حالة جيدة بما يكفي للاستخدام. بحذر، ودون أن يلاحظني أحد، حملتهما إلى سيارتي. على الرغم من عدم قانونية ذلك، شعرت بالفخر بأنني وجدت كنزًا مخفيًا ومثاليًا لفناء منزلي.

على مدار سنوات، ظلت تجربتي في المكب تلهمني وتعلمني. في وقت لاحق، عندما سنحت لي فرصة العمل هناك بدوام جزئي، انتهزتها بحماس. كل يوم سبت، من أبريل إلى نوفمبر، واصلت عملي الرئيسي في وسائل الإعلام وكنت أقضي وقتي في مكب النفايات، وهو محطة نقل مؤقتة للقمامة.
تلك التجربة فتحت عيني على كيفية تعامل الناس مع نفاياتهم وكيف أن الكثيرين يحاولون بجدية فرز أغراضهم بشكل صحيح، لكنهم غالبًا ما يحتاجون للمساعدة في معرفة كيفية القيام بذلك.

كانت أكثر اللحظات إثارة هي عندما يشارك الناس قصصهم وراء الأشياء التي يتخلصون منها. من رجل يفرغ آلاف الصناديق من الوقايات المعيبة، نتيجة خطأ في اختيار المواد، إلى عائلة تخلصت من صناديق الورق المقوى المملوءة بالرمل لتحضير الحديقة لتنسيق جديد.
كل قطعة كانت تحمل قصة، وكل قصة كانت تعكس جزءًا من حياة شخص ما.

من خلال هذه التجارب، تعلمت الكثير عن قيمة الأشياء وعن الحاجة للتفكير في كيفية تأثيرنا على البيئة من خلال اختياراتنا اليومية. أدركت كيف أننا نترك وراءنا بصمات في كل شيء نستخدمه ونرميه، وكيف يمكن لهذه الأشياء أن تحكي قصصنا بعد زمن طويل من مغادرتنا.

في نهاية اليوم، أصبح المكب بالنسبة لي ليس مجرد مكان للتخلص من النفايات، بل مكان لاكتشاف الكنوز المخفية، تعلم الدروس، والتأمل في قصص الحياة التي تركت وراءها.
